Twenty metric tonnes waste managed from Pashupati area

Kathmandu, The waste that had accumulated at the Pashupati area in course of the Mahashivaratri festival has been managed.
In this connection, 20 metric tonnes waste was managed from the Hansamandap site under the 409th week of Bagmati River cleaning mega campaign. The Hansamandap area was used for serving food to the visiting sadhus and devotees as well as organising cultural programmes on the occasion of the Mahashivaratri festival on March 11.
Bagmati Clean-up Mega Campaign campaigner and Manager of the Bagmati Civilisation Integrated Development Committee , Dr Mala Kharel said the waste like discarded plastic and paper plates and glasses accumulated at the Hansamandap area were managed today.
The Campaign activists said the waste had not been removed even for three days and it was found piled up.
The chief Campaign activist and former Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal, PADT Board member Asha Pandey, the Tilaganga Clean-up Group, the group responsible for cleaning the northern sector of the Ring Road and the Maitidevi Clean-up Group as well as volunteers participated in the clean-up programme at the Pashupati area today. -RSS
